Welcome to the Gayming Foundation

Join us in creating a rainbow safety net for the global video games industry.

Our Mission

Our mission is to uplift and empower LGBTQ+ games workers and fans to affect change, celebrate inclusivity, and drive forward representation in games.

Three Pillars

1. Empowering Workers

Empowering LGBTQ+ games industry workers – from those in big companies to sole indie developers – with grant making and support programmes to improve their working lives.

2. Supporting Fans

Supporting content creators and local gaymer groups who are building and fostering positive fan communities with grant making and support programmes.

3. Encouraging Inclusivity

Challenge the video game industry to be more inclusive for LGBTQ+ players and workers by celebrating success, calling out what’s wrong, and providing learning resources to enable them to do better.

Your support is vital in delivering the real, tangible change these programs can achieve.

Programs

Current Initiatives & Projects

Gaymer Group Growth Fund

A small grant fund available to local LGBTQ+ gaymer groups up to a maximum of $2500 per group. These small grants will enable the groups to be able to invest in their growth and strengthen the LGBTQ+ gamer fanbase.

Goal: $70,000

Double Jump

This program will focus on assisting experienced LGBTQ+ professionals to transition their transferable skills into the games industry, a task notoriously difficult to achieve. This will build out and strengthen LGBTQ+ representation at a senior level in the industry.

Goal: $100,000

PrideXP Boost Mentorships

The PrideXP Boost Mentorship scheme will connect both LGBTQ+ workers and content creators with veterans in these fields to foster a supportive network of knowledge-sharing and growth.

Goal: $100,000

The ESA identifies that 190.6m people in the US play video games – of which, 11% identify as LGBTQ+ (ESA, 2024). Based on these figures, there are about 21 million LGBTQ video gamers in the US.

Based on research findings where 27% of workers identified as LGBTQ+ , there are an estimated 72,000 LGBTQ+ games industry workers in the US. This does not take into account individual solo developers, so in reality this figure is significantly higher.

There are well over 40 LGBTQ gaming organizations in the US. These are either city-based IRL gamer groups in large cities such as New York, LA, Houston, Charlotte, etc., or they are sector-specific groups such as esports, tabletop games, or game-specific groups and clans.
